  • Coronavirus Update
  • Eagle Mentor Awards - May 14
  • Eagles' First Flight /2020-2021 Calendar - Mr. Andy Jados and Mrs. Jen Young
  • Athletic Update - Mr. Brian Shelton

Minutes

  • Mr. Jados and Mrs. Young shared about Eagles' First Flight for 2020-2021 and the purpose behind wanting the only freshman and new students to begin on the first day of school.  When 8th graders are transitioning to high school, there is a great deal of anxiety that can come with this change.  We felt that this would be a way to help these new students make this adjustment to high school.  The changes to Eagles' First Flight came from a survey and feedback from the students.
  • Mr. Brian Shelton (HS Athletic Director) and Mr. Joe Rucker (MS Athletic Director) provided a complete athletic overview and update. Included in the update was the need for refs and umpires.
    • Mr. Schneider noted that he had seen some schools providing training for students to become a referee and wondered if this is something that we have looked into.
    • Mr. Jados indicated that he has heard about the program as well and will definitely look into it.
  • Mrs. Hamberg shared an update on the Coronavirus and that there is some thought that there may be an executive order to close schools.  We are doing our best to prepare how to continue our educational process from a distance learning perspective if this is done.  We have heard that there may be a ban on mass gatherings.
    • Mrs. Lee asked if there has been any thought on our at-risk student population where a school is a safe place for them to be and they are relying on our schools to provide them with nutrition and a safe place to be during the day.
  • Mr. Schneider asked who Mrs. Hamberg has talked with - she shared that we have been working closely with the county health department and the local health commissioner.  These individuals have been working closely with the CDC.
  • Mrs. Hamberg noted that it is being recommended to minimize the spectators at our events, which is what we are trying to do.  At this point, we have not canceled any of our activities.  We have created a comprehensive list of events occurring throughout the district and are working to try to plan for what we do if we need to close these events.
  • The Board discussed the impact of having to close the school and cancel activities and how our school district can help support our community.

6.3 District Goal: Planning for Growth
  • Construction Update - Mr. Doug Swartz

Minutes

  • Mr. Swartz provided quick updated on construction.  He noted that our boiler project for the High School is going to be going out for bids soon. He also noted that for our new projects our freezers and coolers are being installed.
