  • Mrs. Penny Sturtavent provided a presentation on College Credit Plus (CCP)
    • CCP Data
      • We are seeing our % of student participation leveling.
      • Students are receiving guidance to make purposeful selections of courses.
      • BW is uniques in the number of programs taught on our campus by our faculty both facilitated model and adjunct model.
      • By teaching on our campus, we are providing students that may not be able to take college courses due to transportation.  It also provides students with the opportunity to still participate in extra-curriculars during the day.
      • We are working to reduce textbook costs by utilizing electronic/online coursework and by collecting and reusing textbooks.
      • Students are reimbursing the district when a course is failed or withdraw too late.
    • New CCP Legislation
      • Student take 15 hours in level 1 course prior to entering in higher level classes - there are exceptions
      • No 1 to 1 courses, no PE courses, no sectarian courses, & no travel abroad courses are covered in CCP
      • Course fee limits have been set.
      • New eligibility option.
      • Underperforming rule which set up probation and dismissal when students perform below 2.0 GPA in their college curriculum.
    • Highlights
      • We will offer Introduction to Education next year.
      • Currently, have 16 fulltime CCP students.
      • All courses offered at Big Walnut are part of the Ohio Transfer Agreement program.
      • Our CCP program is meeting the needs of a broad spectrum of students from gifted to the gray area student.
      • A 2018 graduate will complete her bachelor's within 2 years of her HS graduation.
      • A 2018 graduate complete 1/3 of his associates through CCP.
      • Collaboration between high schools and college is growing through the CCP process.
  • Ms. Pollock noted that we are glad to be able to provide this, but it is also important to note that this is not a free program.  We have to pay tuition, which we project to be about $164,000 this year, as well as the cost of our staff teaching the class. She shared that this year we are going to do a Facebook Live State of the Schools Event instead of an event at the school.
  • Mr. Frame brought several students from the ROX Program.
    • It is a once a week program that focuses on various topics, such as Self-Esteem & Confidence, Body Image, Friendships & Relationships, Stress & Pressure.
  • Each of the girls shared their experiences and what the got out of the program.
  • Shared that the Future District-Wide Goals
    • Increase Girls in ROX
    • Increase Staff Facilitators
    • Personalize ROX to BWMS
    • Secure Sustainable Funding
  • Mr. Frame and Mr. Powell shared on the Middle School's Continuous Improvement Plan

    • Goal 3 is looking at creating a more positive climate in the Middle School

6.2 District Goal: Improve Communication

  • Mr. Cooper shared an update on the number of staff at each of our buildings and the class size. He stated that the aspirational goal for student per pupil is 25 in the elementary level K-3 and 27 for 4th grade at the elementary.
